Privacy and cookies

Orders

When you order, we collect your name, email, phone number and, for delivery, your address. We use these only to fulfil your order and contact you about it. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see your card details. We keep order records for as long as the law requires for bookkeeping.

Marketing

We only send you specials by email or WhatsApp if you tick the box for that channel. We record what you agreed to and when. Unsubscribe from any email with the link at the bottom, or reply STOP on WhatsApp.

Cookies

You don't sign in to this site, so there's no login cookie. Your browser keeps a few things for the site to work: your basket, your Christmas order choices and your cookie choice. These stay on your device and don't need your consent. Payments happen on Stripe's own secure pages, which set their own cookies.

We'd also like to use Second Shadow (Second Shadow Ltd), an analytics tool, to understand how the site is used. It sets its own cookie(s) and records page views, clicks and how you use the forms on the site. The first time you visit, a banner asks you to Accept or Reject this. Nothing is tracked or recorded unless you tap Accept. Your choice is remembered in your browser so the banner won't show again, and you can change your mind at any time using Cookie settings (also at the bottom of every page).

We don't use any advertising cookies, and no other analytics or tracking runs on the site.

Session recordings and heat maps

If you tap Accept, Second Shadow also records how you use the website: where you click, tap, scroll and move your pointer, which pages you visit and how you move between them. We use this to build heat maps and to replay visits, so we can see where people get stuck and make the site easier to use.

Recordings are linked to the random identifier in Second Shadow's cookie, not to your name or email address. They never include your card details, which you only ever enter on Stripe's pages. Recordings are kept for 30 days and then permanently deleted.

If you tap Reject, or don't choose, nothing is recorded.

Who else sees it

When you sign up for updates (on the site or at checkout), your name, email address and mobile number are also kept in Second Shadow, the customer database Jay uses to send them.

Our service providers: Stripe (payments), Supabase (database), Netlify (hosting), Resend (email) and Second Shadow (customer database, plus analytics, session recordings and heat maps if you tap Accept). We never sell your data.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your data by emailing jay@meatatjays.co.uk. You can also complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.
